Projections

Nytha Oronga

This image is a close up of what happens when a rather weak source of light is projected through the mesh created by weaving strips of recycled paper.

“Projections” is a renewed attempt at describing the following reality: being human means carrying within us a composite worldview shaped by our culture or cultures of origin, our family history, the groups we associate with (friends, communities) and how we individually process all that information. Projected through woven recycled materials, a short narrated video captures the images before my eyes and the thoughts that go through my head as I am travelling on a train.

This installation can be found in the 2nd floor studio.

This image shows a video being projected through the yet incomplete cardboard frame. It shows how the projected image is transformed by the recycled paper weave.
