Veiled Veracity

A 3D sculpted man stares beyond the camera with a hat on his head and a pipe in his mouth.

The religion of Vodou (oftentimes spelled as “Voodoo”), is extremely misunderstood by the general public. Usually thought of to be a practice of black magic or evil doings, Vodou is misrepresented due to misinformation which has led to its overall demonetization in media.

Yet in the perception of darkness lies an unknown beauty, a beauty I wish to bring attention to and educate the general public on through the use of 3D portraits of Lwa (spirits) within the religion. The portraits will be centred around positivity and accuracy, including short descriptions of their significance to the religion in order to educate and share appreciation.

Using 3D software MetaHuman and Unreal engine, I hope to inspire and provide truth on a religion that has been frowned upon by the general public for centuries through positive and precise portrayal.
