Portfolio
Luke McCutcheon
This mixed material installation is the physical rendition of a photography student’s Lightroom Catalogue, as they push to continuously create a stream of creative and technically-proficient work throughout the school year. The endless stream of projects becomes a dissociative process, wherein the student endlessly works toward a better grade. Portfolio is an optical piece, a collective shrine to the artist’s portfolio, a hyperbolic display that puts the Catalogue on a pedestal. Each tile represents a possible pass or fail; joy or disappointment; pride or shame, regarding final projects in which any of these tiles could have played a part. A loosely organized grid of pixels is the constant creative churn.
