(embodied)
Jessica Berger
(embodied) is an intimate portraiture series that unapologetically takes up space. Focusing on ideas of beauty, identity, perception and representation, this series explores the internal perspective of a plus-size person photographing other plus-size people. Through a number of intimate sessions, I was able to connect with my subjects and create a space to explore vulnerability and the relationship between body and identity each person has. (embodied) uses the representational power of photography to affirm the subjects in their bodies. It frames them beautifully and honestly while declaring space and interacting with the viewer through the gaze.
